Tottenham will be working behind the scenes on a deal for a new striker – and Jamie Vardy would be a good option, says Ray Parlour.

“Spurs, I’m sure they’ll be working behind the scenes,” Parlour told talkSPORT. “Jamie Vardy was always going to be mentioned.

“It would be a big move for him, Champions League football. You’re looking at Spurs, will they put a bid in for someone like Jamie Vardy?

“So it will be interesting to see and time is ticking on and really if you’re going to bring someone in, you might as well bring them in as early as you can.”

22:20 UPDATE: Inter Milan prepare contract extension

Inter Milan are ready to dash Manchester United’s hopes of signing defender Milan Skriniar.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who claim Skriniar will be offered a lucrative contract extension in the next couple of days.

It’s claimed Inter have informed Skriniar’s agents that they will submit a formal contract offer believed to be worth £50k per week.

However, Calciomercato add that the two parties will meet at the beginning of February to discuss the extension.

22:10 UPDATE: Shanghai SIPG target Dimitri Payet

Former West Ham winger Dimitri Payet is wanted by Shanghai SIPG.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim the Chinese Super League champions are exploring alternatives to Marko Arnautovic.

Shanghai SIPG saw their £35million bid for Arnautovic rejected by West Ham last week.

Arnautovic has made it clear that he wants to quit West Ham for a big-money move to China, where he would reportedly treble his wages.

22:00 UPDATE: Cardiff agree Emiliano Sala deal

Nantes striker Emiliano Sala has agreed to join Cardiff.

Sky Sports are reporting that relegation-threatened Cardiff will pay £18million for the Argentine star.

The transfer will eclipse Cardiff’s previous club-record fee of £11million paid for Gary Medel in 2013.

Sala has scored 12 goals in Ligue 1 this season.

Manchester United want to hand Marcus Rashford a new deal which would see his wages rise to around £150,000-a-week, the Daily Mirror claim.

The report claims United’s decision is based on interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus.

Rashford’s current deal ends in 18 months but has an option to be extended by a year.

Rashford has scored four goals in Solskjaer’s six games in charge including the game-winner against Tottenham on Sunday.

Sporting director Olaf Rebbe has followed manager David Wagner out of Huddersfield.

Rebbe has left the Premier League strugglers by mutual consent after only seven months, three days after the departure of his fellow German.

“The club wants to make a fresh start as it searches for its next head coach, following the recent departure of David Wagner, and this parting of ways has been agreed as the best for everyone concerned,” the Terriers said in a statement.

Huddersfield chief executive Julian Winter said: “We thank Olaf for his service and wish him all the best for the future.”

21:30 UPDATE: Noam Emeran confirms deal

Manchester United are inching closer to the signing of Noam Emeran after the Amiens talent confirmed he is joining them.

The 16-year-old midfielder, who has apparently attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, will arrive at Old Trafford at the end of the January transfer window.

It’s believed that United will pay £90,000 for Emeran.

“I chose Manchester United after discussing it with my family,” Emeran said on the switch.

“I think United were my best option from the offers I had to enable me to play at the top level. It is now down to me to put in the work needed to reach my targets and fulfil my dreams.”

21:15 UPDATE: Jurgen Klopp readying £20m bid

Liverpool are readying a £20m bid for Schalke youngster Weston McKennie.

Reds scouts have watched the 20-year-old on numerous occasions during his time in the Bundesliga.

And The Sun say Klopp is debating a £20m bid this month – otherwise the Reds could return in the summer.

Midfielder McKennie can also play in defence, which is more than welcomed by Klopp amid their defensive injury crisis.

21:00 UPDATE: Chelsea tracking Arber Zeneli

Chelsea are interested in signing Heerenveen winger Arber Zeneli.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim Maurizio Sarri’s side could snap him up for just £5million.

Zeneli, 23, is out of contract in June and Heerenveen may have to accept a nominal fee for their talented Kosovo international.

It’s said that Chelsea, along with a number of Premier League clubs, will attend Heerenveen’s clash with Ajax this weekend to watch Zeneli in action.

20:45 UPDATE: Girona president rejects Barcelona interest

Girona president Delfi Geli has rejected claims Barcelona want to sign Cristhian Stuani.

Various Spanish newspapers claimed that Barcelona were ready to trigger Stuani’s paltry £15million release clause.

But Geli says his striker, who has scored 12 goals in 15 league appearances, is staying put.

“There is nothing to say about this,” Geli told Cadena Ser.

“Stuani is our players, he is very happy here and we are very happy to have him here, there are no other updates. This story does not have basis in fact, I cannot say anything else.”
