Tottenham transfer news: Jamie Vardy move talked up by Ray Parlour – 'They’ll be working'

That is the opinion of former Arsenal and England midfielder Ray Parlour.

Tottenham are set to be without star striker Harry Kane until March due to injury.

Kane suffered ankle ligament damage late on in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

That leaves Fernando Llorente as the only fit recognised striker in the Tottenham squad.

But Llorente has neither started or scored in a Premier League game so far this season.

Parlour believes Tottenham need to bring someone in as soon as possible.

And he claims Leicester frontman Vardy could be the man to answer their problems.

“Spurs, I’m sure they’ll be working behind the scenes,” Parlour told talkSPORT.

“[Mauricio] Pochettino, Daniel Levy will be looking, ‘Who’s available? Who can we get in?’.

“Jamie Vardy was always going to be mentioned.

“It would be a big move for him, Champions League football.

“You’re looking at Spurs, will they put a bid in for someone like Jamie Vardy?

“He’s not been playing on a regular basis, he’s been left out of the team quite often.

“So it will be interesting to see and time is ticking on and really if you’re going to bring someone in, you might as well bring them in as early as you can.

“They desperately need a player now, they’ve got Fulham on the weekend, [Crystal] Palace in the cup.

“I’m sure Spurs fans will be hoping they can get someone in.”

Vardy has scored seven goals in the Premier League so far this season.
