Star Wars 9 BOYCOTT called by OUTRAGED fans over THIS – But have Lucasfilm saved the day?

Last December a fan-made Star Wars movie called Vader Episode I: Shards of the Past, was released on YouTube and has so far been watched almost 7 million times. Created by Star Wars Theory YouTube’s Toos, the Darth Vader fan film has allegedly been approved by Lucasfilm – as long as it wasn’t crowdfunded or monetised. However, Disney’s publisher Warner/Chappel allegedly issued a copyright strike on the grounds the fan film’s music sounded too close to John Williams’ Imperial March. According to Movie Web, hardcore fans are calling for a boycott of Star Wars 9 unless Disney and Warner/Chappel offer an apology.

The actor has spoken of why he finds filming movies “torturous” and revealed that he has always known one important fact about how the entire Star Wars saga will end.

In a new interview with Deadline, he said: “I think with Star Wars, it’s six years this year that I’ve known about it or been working on it.

“I had one piece of information of where it was all going, and that’s where it has been in my head for a long time, and things were building towards that.”

“It feels very theatrical if anything. Because in the plays that I’ve done, a six-month run, on the very last day, you finally feel like, ‘Oh, now I have a better understanding of what it is that I want to do. I wish we could do this all over again.’”

He added: “Working on a play, the questions you can ask yourself are infinite, and that’s what’s torturous about film sometimes – you only have one shot to get it right.”

“And you can do a lot of takes, but we’re not all going to get back together again and do this. “But for something you’re doing for six years, you still have a chance to go back and make something a little bit more articulated.”

Star Wars Episode IX is released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
