Ghostbusters 3 PLOT details surface as original stars Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson respond

It’s been over 30 years since the original team starred in Ghostbusters II. Since then there’s been animated series, video games, a 2016 female-led reboot and Egon star Harold Ramis sadly died. But now original director Ivan Reitman’s son Jason is gearing up to helm a direct sequel to Ghostbusters II, one that will hopefully see the return of the surviving original cast who cameoed in the 2016 film. And now Production Weekly has unveiled that filming will take place in late Spring or Summer of this year.

Ghostbusters 3’s casting and plot have also been teased in the project notes.

According to Pursue News, it reads: “The main characters will be 4 teens: 2 boys, 2 girls.

“A family moves back home to a small town where they learn more about who they are.”

The outlet speculates these teenagers could be the children of the original Ghostbusters team.

Meanwhile, Aykroyd and Hudson shared the first teaser trailer for the film, on Twitter.

Aykroyd wrote: “If you need a tune-up, you know who to call.”

While Hudson added: “Bigger than a 100-ft marshmallow man!”

It certainly looks like these two, and hopefully, Murray will reprise their roles as teased by Aykroyd in November.

Speaking on AXS TV’s The Big Interview, he said: “There is a possibility of a reunion with the three remaining Ghostbusters.

“It’s being written right now… I think Billy will come.

“The story’s so good. Even if he plays a ghost.”

Ghostbusters 3 is set for release in Summer 2020.
