Galaxy S9 is receiving a huge Samsung improvement and it's not what you're expecting

Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are almost a year old but have remained a great smartphone choice for Android fans.

Galaxy S9 is the smaller of the two flagships and comes with a 5.8-inch AMOLED display that still offers some of the best density on any handset.

The S9’s panel outputs content at a 1440p resolution and has a density of 570-pixels-per-inch.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S9+ has a 6.2-inch AMOLED panel that has a slightly lower density of 529-pixels-per-inch.

Both are powered by either Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 processor or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 depending on the region it is sold in.

Moreover, the duo also come with an improved camera system that features a variable aperture.

This allows the sensor to open or close depending on lighting conditions.

Galaxy S9 comes with a 12-megapixel rear sensor and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

While the former was certainly one of the best smartphone photography offerings at the time, the latter certainly took lower quality photos overall.

However, it appears Samsung is determined to improve the S9’s front-facing camera in a new update that is rolling out right now.

In the notes discussing the new features present, Samsung noted it is improving its front camera to better the brightness of faces in backlit conditions.

A full list of improvements are the following:

• Improved performance for the front camera

• Brightness of faces in backlit conditions has been improved

• The security of your device has been improved

• Overall stability of functions improved

Although Samsung stated performance for the front-facing sensor should be improved, it did not discuss how in more detail.

The update is rolling out in stages for owners, meaning if it is not already available on your device it will be soon.

The improvement for the S9 comes as Samsung is rolling out an upgrade to Android 9 Pie for the handset.

Owners in the UAE, Germany, India and South Korea have reported the update has arrived in a full capacity.

However, it appears for now UK fans are currently unable to download it.

Samsung has insisted Android 9 Pie with its new One UI skin running on top will arrive for all S9 and S9+ owners this month.
