EastEnders spoilers: Sean Slater return CONFIRMED – but will he take down Max Branning?

EastEnders viewers will remember the hot-headed Sean Slater (played by Rob Kazinsky) who last appeared in 2009 on the soap.

It has been announced Sean will make a return to Walford “for a short stint” in the coming months.

But why would he want to return to Walford after ten years away from the Slaters and the drama that surrounds Albert Square?

Sean last appeared in the show during the ongoing issues between Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).

Sean was devastated to find out he was not in-fact the biological father of Amy, whose real father was eventually revealed to be Jack.

Sean raged at the revelation, and found himself attempting to kill Jack, which lead to him plunging into a frozen lake with Roxy.

After this ordeal he left the show, and Rob ventured to Hollywood.

Speaking on his return to the show, Rob said: “Throughout my career I have always felt that my best work was on EastEnders as Sean Slater, that there was something there in him that I understood completely, something traumatic, something that we never really got to show the viewers.

“I have unfinished business in Albert Square and am thrilled to be returning to what I still consider to be my home, however briefly.

“EastEnders is still the most important serial on British Television, never afraid to combat hard storylines and tell hard truths, I have always been proud of what EastEnders has done for social awareness throughout my lifetime and that is why I’m back – To tell a story that means something to me with the family that I know can tell it right.”

Rob went on to conclude: “I can’t wait to see my Slaters again and see what’s in store for Sean as he brings an evolved animal to Albert Square.”

But it is currently a mystery which unfinished business Sean could be returning for.

As he has formerly had rivalries with Jack, and once attempted to kill Max Branning (Jake Wood) alongside his wife, the brothers could certainly be his target.

But will the Slaters rally behind him if he has simply returned for revenge?

Senior Executive Producer of EastEnders, Kate Oates announced: “I’m beyond delighted to see Rob back in Albert Square and back at the heart of the Slater family.

“As an actor, Rob created a modern EastEnders icon in Sean; and as a creative, he has had much input in his returning story.

“It’s exciting to work with an actor with Rob’s drive, passion and eye for detail, and I can’t wait to see the impact his arrival has on the Square amidst those who loved or loathed the troubled Sean Slater.”

Sean is due to return in Spring 2019, and will surely cause some trouble during his short time in the show.

During Rob’s time in EastEnders he achieved a number of awards including Best Male Actor in 2009.

EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
