Emilia Clarke: Game of Thrones star's boyfriend surprised as old pic resurfaces

The 32-year-old Game of Thrones favourite, who plays Daenerys Tagraryen in the HBO drama series, is currently dating Charlie McDowell after going public with their romance last year. Charlie informed his 9,000 Instagram followers he wouldn’t be taking part in the viral trend currently sweeping social media, the #10yearchallenge, which sees people showing their transformations with side-by-side pics from 2009 and 2019. “There are no photos of me from 2009 because I knew it would come to this,” he quipped on his story. However, it seemed one of Emilia Clarke’s boyfriend’s pals did in fact have photographic evidence of Charlie’s 2009 look.

Charlie later shared a screenshot of his messages from Patrick Devit, who had sent him a hilarious picture showing him posing with his arms outstretched, wearing a candy G-string over the top of his jeans.

“January 2009 b***h,” Charlie’s friend captioned the image.

“How dare you @patrickdevit,” he replied, clearly amused by the trip down memory lane.

Emilia’s beau is a film director and writer, who is best known for directing The One I Love in 2014.

He is also the son of actors Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen.

Charlie previously dated Rooney Mara, 33.

Emilia and Charlie appeared to go public with their relationship last October when she celebrated her birthday with him.

She shared a snap of their kissing shadows on the sand as enjoyed a stroll together with her 18 million Instagram followers, adding the caption: “Well that was a birthday I won’t be forgetting in a while.”

Charlie shared the same snap with his own followers, saying: “Happy birthday E,” along with a heart emoji.

The couple also saw in the New Year together, sharing pictures on Instagram of another trip to the beach.

Blonde beauty Emilia is famous for playing the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, in Game of Thrones and has also had roles in Terminator Genisys, Me Before You and Solo: A Star Wars Story.

She is currently shooting in London for her new movie, Last Christmas, a rom-com which also stars Henry Golding, 31.

Last year, she wrapped filming for season eight of Game of Thrones, admitting finalising the last series was an emotional experience.

During an interview with Kelly Ripa, 48, and Ryan Seacrest, in May, she said: “It’s really embarrassing because I’m here promoting Star Wars and every time someone asks me about the show I just genuinely get quite sad.

“We’re in the middle of shooting so it’s very fresh, it’s very real.”

She later told the Television Academy at the Emmy Awards 2018 it was “bittersweet”, adding: “I’m very excited for the next chapter but for now it’s going to be an excuse for us all to get together and party.”
