Coronation Street spoilers: Sally Metcalfe to seek comfort from UNEXPECTED character?

Sally (played by Sally Dynevor) faced a dramatic end to prison life as former cellmate Marcia (Victoria Moseley) tried to stab her in tonight’s double bill of Coronation Street.

Having been saved by Jodie Sheppard (Laurie Delaney), it seemed Sally could have been spending another night behind bars as her appeal was delayed on the ITV soap.

However, much to the shock of her family and friends, Sally arrived in The Rovers and was reunited with husband Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and daughter Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent).

As everyone else celebrated her release, the near stabbing was still playing on Sally’s mind which was noticed by Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne).

With Tim requesting champagne at the bar, Peter went over to speak with Sally having spent time behind bars himself.

“A big shock to the system hey, Sal?” Peter asked, but he was expecting the admission his neighbour then made.

Sally tearfully revealed: “This afternoon…I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I nearly got knifed.”

Peter then offered his sympathy to Sally before she got up and left the pub, overwhelmed by the celebrations with Sophie telling Tim to follow her.

Back at home, Sally revealed to her husband what had happened to her, with Tim telling her she was safe now she was home.

“I don’t think I’m ever going to feel safe ever again,” Sally said as she broke down in tears with Tim consoling her.

However, does the fact Sally shared her harrowing ordeal with Peter before Tim put the steps in place for the former landlord to become her new confidant?

Trying to rebuild her life on the street, Sally could turn to Peter for support as he knows exactly what she’s been trough having been tormented by Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson) during his time behind bars.

Following her release, Sally also came face-to-face with sister Gina Seddon (Connie Hyde) for the first time since Gina tried to break up her marriage to Tim.

Welcoming Sally home, Gina said: “Sal, I’m so pleased to see you,” but was met with a harsh response when Sally said: “Get out my face Gina.”

Explaining how she had a part in her sisters release, Gina told Sally: “But, it was me who caught May,” the wife of Duncan Radfield (Nicholas Gleaves) who tried to frame Sally for fraud.

However, Sally wasn’t having any of it as she told Gina: “It was you who put me in prison, anything else you did was to salvage your own conscious. Get lost.”
