Vanessa Bauer: Dancing On Ice skater hits back after Megan Barton Hanson's scathing rant

Vanessa Bauer, 22, spoke about “women empowerment” in a post shared on Instagram yesterday after being accused by Megan Barton Hanson, 24, of splitting with her boyfriend Louis Nathaniel to “get headlines”.

The professional skater, who is partnered with Megan’s beau Wes Nelson, 20, on Dancing On Ice 2019, uploaded a series of images of herself dancing with fellow pro skater Hamish Gaman from Sunday night’s episode.

She captioned the post: “Because whenever I’m on the ice everything is good again.”

Thanking viewers, she continued: “I’m so grateful for yesterday’s voting window number.

“There is nothing in the world I am more passionate about and that makes me happier than figure skating!”

“Last night’s number was an absolute dream,” Vanessa added. “I can’t thank everybody enough for all the love and support.”

Vanessa seemingly hit back at Megan’s scathing rant by ending the upload with the hashtags: “#strongwoman #DancingOnIce #womenempowerment.”

Hours before, Megan took aim at Vanessa on her own Instagram page and claimed the skater failed to “look her in the eye” when they met for the first time ahead of the live show.

The Love Island 2018 wrote in a message, which she has now deleted: “@vanessabauer_skates love that you decide to announce your breakup with your boyfriend on the night of your first performance with my boyfriend!

“You’ve never reached out to me once or invited me to watch you train, it pained you to introduce yourself to me last night you didn’t even look me in the eye LOL.

“Hope the tactical breakup got you the headlines you wanted babe.”(sic)

Megan ended the message by tagging her beau “@wes.nelson” after the rant.

Yesterday morning, Vanessa spoke out about her break-up on social media after The Sun reported her boyfriend became concerned about her “growing closeness” to Wes.

The skater insisted her split from Louis had “nothing to do” with Dancing On Ice 2019.

She uploaded a picture with the message in front of he 60,000 Instagram followers: “Louis and I split for absolutely private reasons which has nothing to do with DOI!”

Vanessa continued: “It’s hard enough to deal with a break up privately. So upsetting to see papers inventing stories not respecting ones privacy at all.

“Don’t believe all the b******t!”

Wes and Vanessa topped the leaderboard after receiving a four from judge Jason Gardiner with sevens from the rest of the judges.

The two showcased their figure skating skills to song Dancing to Gravity by DJ Fresh ft Ella Eyre.

Dancing On Ice 2019 continues Saturday on ITV at 6pm.
