Slimming World launch syn-free chips in Iceland – and dieters can eat as many as they like

Slimming World is known for its huge selection of tasty meal plans and treats that are “syn-free”, meaning dieters can still enjoy them without feeling guilty. And one of the most popular recipes is Slimming World’s Chunky Chips – which will soon be launching at bargain supermarket Iceland. Iceland’s Slimming World chips are the first ever frozen chips to hit UK supermarkets which aren’t fried before freezing. The frozen supermarket’s syn-free version chips are grilled instead, meaning dieters can put them in the oven as easy as you would with any other bag of frozen chips.

Slimming World’s recipe has been a popular choice amongst dieters for a while, and now they can stock up on the ready-made treats that contain half the calories of rival McCain’s.

Costing just £2.25 for a 1kg bag, the chips will hit stores on Monday 21st January.

However, customers will have to act fast, as they’ll only be on sale for a limited time.

If you don’t manage to get your hands on a bag of the syn-free treats, you can make your own version of the chips at home with Slimming World’s very easy recipe:

Ingredients

900g medium sized Maris Piper potatoes

Low calorie cooking spray

Crushed sea salt and malt vinegar

Method

Preheat the oven to 240°C/220°C Fan/Gas 9. Peel the potatoes and cut them into 1cm thick rectangular chips.

Add the chips to a large saucepan of boiling salted water and cook for four minutes. Drain and leave aside for 10 minutes.

Return the chips to the dry saucepan, cover with a lid, and shake to ‘rough up’ the edges.

Spray a baking tray with low calorie cooking spray before scattering the chips on and baking for 30 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown.

Drain them on absorbent kitchen paper before serving with salt and vinegar.

A spokesperson for Iceland said of their launch of the Slimming World chips: “The recipe has been a top choice for the Slimming World community, but now customers can simply grab them from the freezer with no preparation needed.

“The tasty treat is the ideal dish for a home-made take away or as part of a hearty winter meal.”

Slimming World recommend serving the chips alongside a lean steak, which you can marinate with Slimming World’s Peppercorn Sauce.

Across the UK, dieters are thrilled with the news they can now stock up on their favourite Slimming World treat.
