NBA news: Jimmy Butler makes Timberwolves trade claim after 76ers win on Minnesota return

The guard was playing against his old team for the first time since his November trade.

He controversially declared that he wanted a trade before the season began, as he had a public falling-out with former general manager Scott Layden.

Butler reportedly yelled at Layden during the middle of a training session: ‘You f****** need me. You can’t win without me.”

However, before the 76ers blow-out win over the Timberwolves on Tuesday night, Butler went out of his way to prove there was no bad blood.

He was seen embracing interim head coach Ryan Saunders and other past team-mates before the 149-107 win.

And speaking to media after the game, Butler admitted there was nothing personal between him and the ‘Wolves.

“I do wanna beat those guys,” he said.

“But I wanna beat every team.

“A win at home is always good, a win by that margin is always good because guys get rest.

“I’m taking every inch, not just against ‘Wolves.

“It was everything I thought it would be, seeing some old faces.

“There wasn’t much trash talk.

“I just liked the fact we beat them, it meant nothing extra.”

Butler then revealed what he said to Saunders before the game, and admitted he wanted to make a gesture to him.

He added: “Just congrats [is all Butler said], I think I’ll take him a nice bottle of wine right now.

“I wish I could share it with him, but I wanna send him home with something at least.”
