The 56-year-old weather presenter revealed there are people who superimpose her face onto the bodies of naked women and put the photograph online.
She said there were lots of images claiming to be her on the internet, but insisted none of them were really her.
“There are so many naked pictures that claim to be me but aren’t, just my head stuck on other women’s bodies,” she explained in an interview with Radio Times in 2013.
“My friends send them to me. Thanks very much!”
The BBC Breakfast reporter is admired by many and is sometimes sent X-rated photos by some of her more daring fans.
At times the explicit content has been so crude Carol has had to block men who send her unsavoury messages and images online.
“I never know what to say when people ask me about the pictures, but it is true,” Carol told BT.com in 2015.
“I don’t think I’m the only person,” she sheepishly added. “I think lots of people get them. It’s not just me.”
Admitting she finds the fan mail a little awkward, she continued: “I find it a bit embarrassing. I find talking about it even more embarrassing.”
The TV personality is often inundated with compliments about her appearance from both male and female admirers.
Last year, her BBC Breakfast colleague Dan Walker, 41, paid tribute to her on Instagram after she visited the Salford studio where he works.
The presenter praised the meteorologist for bringing a “smile to everyone’s face” and said she was a “joy-spreader”.
Sharing a stunning black and white picture of the meteorologist, the broadcaster penned: “There are some people who brighten every room.
“Carol Kirkwood is normally in the weather studio in London, but today she was in the BBC Breakfast studio in Salford.”
He continued: “She put a smile on everyone’s face (she did bring chocolate). Carol is a joy-spreader and we love her.”
Carol looked phenomenal in the monochrome photograph and donned a stylish printed shirt for the glamorous photoshoot.
Fans of the star went wild for the picture, with many leaving her compliments in the comment section below the image.
One admirer wrote: “What a stunning photo of a lovely lady,” while another shared: “A lovely photograph of a beautiful lady.”
A third fan added: “She literally is like a ray of sunshine even when she’s telling us we’ll be getting awful weather she still seems to sugar coat it for us bless her. Love you, Carol.”
Someone else gushed: “Love Carol, she’s just always so bright and cheerful a beautiful lady inside and out.”
