Nintendo Switch news: Pokemon Switch 2019 update and Metroid Prime 4 release leak

Nintendo Switch fans may have to wait until the next Direct stream event to find out all the new titles coming to the console this year.

But the one game we do know will be launched in 2019 is a new Pokemon Switch RPG.

Not to be confused with the recently launched Let’s Go Pikachu games, this next Pocket Monster project is set to be a more traditional instalment.

Fans can expect a full-blooded Pokemon experience arriving in the second half of 2019.

But while fans are ready to learn more about the new game, Nintendo hasn’t been shared tons about it.

The latest news about the upcoming project was shared by CEO of the Pokemon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara.

He revealed that the new Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch was proving a challenge to develop.

Speaking to Dime, the CEO confirmed that the Switch’s unique hybrid design meant creating a different sort of game.

Being able to play on a TV or as a handheld experience means that gameplay has to be good enough however fans are playing the new game.

Ishihara also confirmed that challenge might have been underestimated when it first came to planning for the new Nintendo Switch release.

The CEO is reported to have said that it was five times harder than what was expected.

However, this doesn’t mean things are going badly with the development of the new Pokemon experience, only that the team are having to work in ways not first thought of.

Game Freak recently shared an annual statement revealing that they want to surprise fans with their next title.

No further details of what that might have been was shared in the statement, but it does bode well that creative minds are taking on the challenge.

Rumours have been shared online that the new Pokemon RPG could be pushed to 2020.

This would create a massive hole in Nintendo’s release cycle but would come with a reported upside.

The scale the Game Freak team are putting into to the new project is large and will reportedly mean a bigger game releasing.

However, these remain just rumours and should be taken with a big pinch of salt.

Another game that Nintendo fans are hoping to see more of in 2019 is Metroid Prime 4.

And it would certainly prove massive news if the game was revealed to be launching in the coming months.

A new leaked release date for Metroid Prime 4 surfaced this week, suggesting just that.

A new retail listing from Europe for Metroid Prime 4 says the Nintendo Switch game will be in stock on November 29 2019.

This could simply be a placeholder, but it does seem to be a very exact date for the the Switch game to come in stock.

If that is the date Metroid Prime 4 is coming out, it will give Ninty plenty of time to announce a release for this year and build excitement for it.

It’s rumoured that Metroid Prime 4 is being developed by Bandai Namco – not Retro Studios who made the first three Prime games.

Development of Metroid Prime 4 is being headed up by Kensuke Tanabe, who was co-producer on the original game and a producer on Metroid Prime 2 and 3.
