Meghan Markle wears £1085 'MEGHAN' red coat and cradles baby bump in Birkenhead

Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex, 37, was seen wearing a red coat by fashion brand Sentaler – which will set fans back over £1000 and is dubbed ‘The Meghan’ by the brand – today. The mother-to-be was pictured in the stand-out red jacket cradling her baby bump during a visit to Birkenhead this morning. It is the same style of coat the Duchess wore when she attended church with the Royal Family for Christmas in 2017 – and fashionistas can buy the jacket to match, but only the camel version from well over a year ago. Sentaler isn’t currently selling the brightly-coloured jacket; it would seem Meghan’s ‘Meghan’ coat is a one-off for the Duchess at this special time.

Beneath the Meghan coat, the Duchess opted for a striking purple Babaton frock by fashion brand Aritizia and carried a brown leather Gabriela Hearst handbag with one hand.

The Duchess, and her husband, Prince Harry, 36, were invited to Birkenhead by MP Frank Field, to visit local projects and organisations.

Meghan stepped out of the car in red high heels, and was seen smiling to the cameras while holding her pregnancy bump – it’s believed the Duchess is due to give birth in the spring.

She also flashed her wedding and engagement rings as she stroked her tummy, under a fitted purple dress.

The coat is made from baby alpaca material. The website describes this saying: “This comes from the first shearing of a young alpaca resulting in one of the softest and most luxurious fibres.

“This fibre is the most widely used in the collection, providing a lightweight feel while still suitable for the winter season. These pieces are fully lined.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are starting their tour of Birkenhead in Hamilton Square.

There they will observe a newly built sculpture to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Wilfred Owen’s death – a war poet from Birkenhead.

The sculpture is cast in bronze, and resembles a tired soldier from World War One.

The Royals will also reveal a new plaque to mark their visit, as well as spending time talking to local war veterans.

Following Hamilton Square, the couple plan to visit Tomorrow’s Women Wirral – a charity that aims to support women in vulnerable circumstances.

Meanwhile, despite Meghan rumoured to be in her final trimester, she’s stuck to her trademark fashion style – apart form one key difference.

The Duchess is slowly swapping her high heels for more comfortable alternatives, claimed Stanwells Boutqiue’s Juli Aitken.

“We can see a transformation in Meghan’s footwear, as she is slowly ditching those high heel shoes for those closer to ground heights,” she told Express.co.uk

“Pumps and lace front hiker boots have been spotted on the Duchess more recently.”

She recently wore Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ heels in Cow Print – shoes she’s owned for a number of years.
