Danny John-Jules: ‘They have all the answers allegedly’ Strictly star takes swipe at show

Strictly Come Dancing star Danny John-Jules, 58, played policeman Dwayne Myers in the crime drama from 2011, but was notably absent from the show’s most recent series. One fan took to Twitter to query the actor about his absence, but Danny refused to discuss it and also took a swipe at Strictly. The Twitter user commented: “Missed you in DIP, please tell me you’re working on something else!” Danny replied: “With all due respect. Please do not ask me to comment on DIP or ‘The Dancing Show’.

“The @BBC have a @bbcpress office for that. And they have all the answers …… allegedly….. Thank You.”

Danny danced on the BBC series last year with his dance partner Amy, 28.

During their time on the show, it was reported they clashed over their samba routine in rehearsals.

A Strictly production source told Express.co.uk at the time: “Danny and Amy have had a tough week trying to master their difficult Samba.

“They had a minor disagreement earlier this week but were quickly back into rehearsals that same day and had a good rehearsal yesterday.

“They’re excited to perform together tomorrow night.”

Danny also hit back at claims he was “bullying” Amy behind-the-scenes.

A source told The Sun: “Amy’s been crying constantly at the hands of Danny.

“He gets very angry in the training room and he swears and shouts at her a lot.”

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “My conscience has never been clearer.”

Hitting back at The Sun’s article, he added: “I take great pride being hunted down by Khaki Wearing, Doberman-holding, Tobacco-chewing, cross-eyed, cousin-producing, banjo-playing, chair-rocking, night-riding, sheet-wearing, pointy-hatted, illiterate, hacks who’s truth is driven by hate.”

Meanwhile, Danny stepped down from his veteran role in Death in Paradise last series.

His co-star Ardal O’Hanlon recently broke his silence on Danny’s exit, telling Digital Spy: “We’re all dispensable.

“When I heard that Danny was leaving, I thought, ‘Hmm. How will that play? How will the audience take that?’

“Because he’s a very popular character in the show, and he’s been there since the start as well, so there’s that.

“But we’ve seen time and time again that the show survives these cast changes.”

Death in Paradise continues Thursday at 9pm on BBC one.
