Pokemon Go developer Niantic has revealed plans to host a new Field Research event in 2019.
The upcoming Field Research event takes place between 10am and 1pm UK time on January 19 and focuses on Feebas.
For the duration of the event, players can spin Pokestops to obtain Field Research tasks that lead to encounters with Feebas.
Niantic explains more: “It’s time to put your research skills to work and collect Field Research that looks closely at a certain Pokemon species – let’s do some Limited Research!
“While the Water-type Pokemon Feebas may not look like much, there’s plenty to learn about the Fish Pokemon!
“Spin the Photo Disc at nearby PokéStops to obtain Field Research tasks that lead to encounters with Feebas. And, if you’re lucky, you just might find a Shiny Feebas!”
Feebas certainly isn’t the best Pocket Monster in the game, but its Milotic evolution (below) is a highly sought after Pokemon.
While the Feebas Research tasks won’t be around for long, the tasks will remain until you complete the breakthrough.
“Feebas migrate quickly during Limited Research, so exploring is key!” Niantic continues.
“As long as you’ve collected the Limited Research during the event window, you can complete it at any time.
“Don’t forget: you’ll need to venture onward to many PokeStops in order to get new Field Research tasks and encounter as many Feebas as possible!”
The first Community Day event of 2019 takes place between 10am and 1pm UK time on January 12.
As previously announced, Totodile is the star of the show, which is good news if you’re yet to evolve a Croconaw or Feraligatr.
And if you do manage to evolve a Croconaw into a Feraligatr during the event, your Pokemon will learn an exclusive special move.
“Get ready, Trainers! Feraligatr evolved during January Community Day will know the powerful Water-type attack Hydro Cannon, a Pokemon GO Community Day exclusive!” Niantic tweeted.
