Fortnite Save the World FREE on Xbox One: Epic announces free download release plan

developer Epic Games has announced when free Save the World codes will be dished out on Xbox One.

Epic Games made the decision to give the co-op game away for free following confusion with the Xbox One S Fortnite bundle.

According to the packaging, the Xbox One S Eon bundle comes with an exclusive item set, 2,000 V-bucks for the in-game shop and “a full game download of Fortnite”.

However, as fans on Reddit have pointed out, the “full game download” was limited to Battle Royale only.

Admitting that the advertising was poorly worded, Epic will be giving Save the World and V-bucks away for free.

Anybody who qualifies for the rewards will receive them when Epic releases update 7.20 next week.

“We apologize for the miscommunication regarding the contents included within the Eon Bundle,” reads an Epic post.

“We’ve identified the players who have claimed the Eon bundle and are going to grant those players the following: 2,000 V-Bucks (If Save the World is already owned), Access to Save the World (If Save the World was not already owned).

“We will begin these grants with the release of v7.20 and will take several hours to complete and will continuously roll these grants out for players who have purchased the Eon Bundle.”

Fortnite update 7.20 is expected to be released on January 15, so it’s worth checking back then.

To ensure the issue doesn’t crop up again in the future, a free Save the World download will also be included in future purchases of the Xbox One S bundle.

“We will also make sure that all future players who claim the Eon Bundle will be granted access to Save the World moving forward,” Epic continues.

“If you already had purchased Save the World and claimed the Eon Bundle, we will be granting you an additional 2,000 V-Bucks.”
