Black Ops 4 LEAK: New Call of Duty mode coming to PS4 and Xbox One

Black Ops 4 players may have found out more about a brand new mode coming to the latest Call of Duty game on PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

Earlier this week Treyarch gave Call of Duty Black Ops 4 fans an update on the “most anticipated upcoming features” coming to the hit shooter.

In a post on the Black Ops 4 Reddit page the developer revealed mastery camos are coming to Zombies and Blackout – a much requested addition.

Treyarch also revealed that there will be improved looting in Blackout on consoles and league play is coming to ranked multiplayer.

The Black Ops 4 developer also revealed that Zombies fans will be getting a brand new mode which is coming to PS4 first.

The Gauntlet mode will be launching on Voyage of Despair on PS4 initially – but apart from that Treyarch didn’t elaborate on what it entails.

However, one Redditor allegedly managed to datamine more information about the upcoming Gauntlet mode.

Redditor Cashmint shared images that contained the full text for the official in-game description of Gauntlet, CharlieIntel reported.

It read: “Gather your Crew and face the GAUNTLET! Based on Classic Mode, each Gauntlet features 30 ROUNDS of challenges with DIFFERENT RULES EACH ROUND. MEDALS and SPECIAL REWARDS are earned at ROUNDS 10, 20, and 30. If your Crew fails to complete a round as instructed, you will get a STRIKE. Three Strikes and it’s GAME OVER!

“New Gauntlets will be released periodically with all-new challenges, and ALL GAUNTLET MATCHES ARE TIMED, so get out there and set some records!”

CharlieIntel added that PS4 fans can expect to start playing the new Gauntlet mode on January 15.

In other Call of Duty news rumours have been sparked about what the COD 2019 title will be.

Recent rumours were sparked after Ashton Williams, senior communications manager at Infinity Ward, has been posting a number of images of skulls and ghosts on Twitter.

The tweets started in early December but have only recently been picked up by those in the Call of Duty community.

It’s sparked speculation among fans that Ashton could be subtly teasing the next Call of Duty title.

The title that springs to mind is Call of Duty Ghosts, but Kotaku’s Jason Schreier ruled this out.

In a post on ResetEra Schreier said Call of Duty 2019 is not a sequel to Ghosts.

Which leaves the possibility that Ashton could be referencing the Modern Warfare series.

The teasers could be related to the Modern Warfare character Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley, an SAS operative fans of MW will be all too familiar with.

Could Activision have Modern Warfare 4 in the works, or maybe a prequel to the original Modern Warfare focused on Riley’s early days on the battlefield?

It remains to be seen, but fans shouldn’t have long to wait for official confirmation.

New Call of Duty titles typically get teased in the first half of the year, with Black Ops 4 getting announced last March and Call of Duty WW2 in April 2017.

Fans will surely be hoping a similar such event for Call of Duty 2019 is held within the next few months.
