Tiger Woods will never rediscover old form – Sergio Garcia EXCLUSIVE

Woods, 42, made a remarkable return from back surgery last year to win the Tour Championship which in turn earned him a wild card pick to the USA Ryder Cup team.

However, Garcia does not believe the 14-time Major winner can get back to his best.

But the comments were not made in malice, as the Spaniard appears to have buried the hatchet with his old foe.

Garcia surprisingly praised Woods for his efforts last season, although he is doubtful of similar success in 2019.

“He showed really good form last year but can get back to his form in the early 2000s? I don’t think so,” Garcia exclusively told Express Sport while at the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) in the Bahamas.

“But I don’t think anybody can get to that.

“The level of golf he played in 2001 and 2002, that was amazing.

“If he stays healthy, he has shown he can still play and play really well.”

Garcia sat down with Express Sport shortly after crashing out of day one of the PSPC.

And he explained how his efforts to take on the professionals went down at the Atlantis Resort & Casino.

“Unfortunately it was one of those runs where I had good cards but I kept getting beat every single hand,” he said.

“I had aces a couple of times and I got smashed both times.

“I had jacks and didn’t win with them. I had triples and got done by flushes.

“I just couldn’t get anything going, unfortunately.

“There was some hands that I could have folded but at some point, you should think one of those good hands would be good enough.

“Unfortunately none of them were but you learn from it.”
