Amazon Echo’s best feature now arrives on these popular Sony headphones

Sony’s award-winning WH-1000XM3 headphones are about to get even better.

These Bluetooth headphones are already regarded as some of the best noise-cancelling cans money can buy with them offering superior sound, battery life and comfort.

But now it seems they are getting smarter.

During their CES 2019 announcement in Las Vegas, Sony has revealed that WH-1000XM3, WH-1000XM2 and WI-1000X will now be optimised for Amazon Alexa with firmware updates available from the end of January.

This update will allow users to tap the headphones and get full access to all the Alexa voice features.

Richard Palk, Head of Video & Sound Product Marketing and Product Planning at Sony Europe said: “We are delighted to add Alexa support to our critically-acclaimed noise cancelling wireless headphone range in January. This demonstrates our commitment to enhancing our customer’s experience on our headphones by letting them use voice to control the music they listen to.”

And Pete Thompson, Vice President of the Alexa Voice Service, added: “We are delighted to collaborate with Sony on listening experiences that combine high-quality sound with the simplicity of voice control,” said “With Alexa built-in, you can easily play music, hear the news, control smart home devices, access tens of thousands of skills, and more.”

In August, Sony also announced Amazon Alexa compatibility on its HT-ZF9 Dolby Atmos®[1] soundbar that enables people with Alexa-enabled devices to play music and control audio on the ZF9.

If you own a pair of these Sony headphones the Firmware updates for the WH-1000XM3, WH-1000XM2 and WI-1000X will be available from the end of January 2019.

Along with this headphone update, Sony also announced the new MASTER Series ZG9 8K HDR Full Array LED and AG9 4K HDR OLED televisions.

Sony says the MASTER Series is the name given to only the very best Sony TVs and provides premium picture quality, colour, contrast, and clarity approaching that of a professional-grade monitor.

The MASTER Series TVs also feature Netflix Calibrated Mode and IMAX Enhanced to further ensure that content is delivered as intended.
