According to transfer expert Tancredi Palmeri, Alvaro Morata has opened talks over a move to join La Liga giants Sevilla.

But Chelsea will only give the green light on a switch if they can complete their own separate signing to replace him.

Palmeri tweeted: “Morata entering proper negotiations with Sevilla.

“Chelsea keen to let him go only if an alternative will come.”

He adds that Borussia Dortmund have too made an approach but that has been knocked by Chelsea.

Palmeri tweeted today: “Chelsea rejected an offer from Borussia Dortmund for Morata.”

Express Sport understands Chelsea are lining up a £50million bid for PSG’s 31-year-old hitman Edinson Cavani in a desperate bid to solve their scoring problems.

Boss Maurizio Sarri is hoping to bring in the Uruguayan, who was the most expensive signing in French history when he moved to PSG from Napoli six years ago.

Sarri is preparing to revamp his squad in the next two transfer windows and could offload up to seven players in this month’s transfer window alone.

His side have scored only 38 goals in the Premier League, comfortably the lowest number of the clubs in the top six – and he has lost faith in his front-men.

Cavani has scored 324 goals in 519 games and could be the man to get Chelsea firing again – but they may have competition from clubs in China.

Chelsea are also interested in finalising a £45m deal for Cagliari’s international midfielder Nicolo Barella.

Like they did with Christian Pulisic, Chelsea will agree a deal for Barella, 21, seen as one of the best talents in Italy, and he will move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Morata, meanwhile, scored twice on Saturday as FA Cup holders Chelsea advanced with a 2-0 third-round win over Nottingham Forest.

Cesc Fabregas, on potentially his farewell appearance, had a penalty saved after 30 minutes, before another player whose future has been debated, Callum Hudson-Odoi, twice created goals for Morata.

Morata demonstrated his infuriating mix of woeful misses and clinical finishing as the Blues progressed.

His hat-trick opportunity did not come, though, and he was replaced 15 minutes from time, heading straight down the tunnel.
