Susanna Reid: GMB host ‘attacks Piers Morgan doll’ before show to release stress

Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins, 43, was asked if lack of sleep ahead of the show made her bad-tempered with controversial presenter Piers Morgan, 53. She replied: “I don’t blame that on lack of sleep, I’d be like that anyway! I swear Susanna [Reid], 48, has a Piers voodoo doll she attacks in her dressing room. That’s why she’s super-calm when it comes to dealing with him on air. She’s got it out of her system.”

The presenter was also asked how “irritating” Piers is to work with.

She replied to The Sun’s Fabulous Magazine: “He keeps us on our toes!

“You think he can’t be any more outrageous, then he’ll say something to push things even further.

“You think: ‘He’s gone too far this time’ and yet there will still be people that agree with him.

“He does strike a chord with the nation, one way or the other.”

Susanna began presenting the show with Piers back in 2015.

Last year, the ITV star said the former newspaper editor “unleashed” her to be more opinionated.

Susanna said he told her that she cannot be “unopinionated any more” having worked at the BBC beforehand.

She added to Fabulous Magazine: “So I maintain utterly my political neutrality – how I vote, whether I vote, my particular views on things.

“But on other matters, for instance feminism, I’ve unleashed my opinions and gradually I’ve built that up. He’s unleashed me!”

Despite the pair being friends, the TV duo regularly keep ITV viewers entertained with their clash of opinions on the show.

Back in November the hosts clashed on whether parents should kiss their children on the lips or not.

Piers wasn’t impressed with the topic, asking: “Why would you kiss anybody apart from your sexual partner on the lips?”

Susanna replied asking why he needed to add the word “sexual” into the conversation.

Piers responded: “Why, you have sex with your partner don’t you?”

But Susanna was unimpressed with his response and told him he had crossed the line.

She replied: “There’s always a line, and then there’s too far.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
