Google has now joined Amazon by slashing the price of its entry-level smart speaker.
This new sale means the Home Mini can now be picked up for just £29 which is a saving of £20 off the original cost.
The Google Home Mini offers a swathe of smart home features including the ability to control lights, heating and delivery daily news and weather reports.
Like all intelligent speakers, there’s also the option to listen to playlists, albums and radio stations via simple voice commands.
Along with Google dropping prices, there’s also a very similar deal from Amazon who has slashed the cost of its Dot to £29.99 – a saving of £20.
These two rival speakers offer an almost identical design and features but there is one thing that currently gives Google the upper hand.
The Echo Dot has been out of stock throughout the whole of December and it was due to go back on sale later this month.
However, Amazon’s latest update has now revealed that customers won’t be able to buy an Echo Dot until February 4th which means there’s almost an entire month to wait before getting your hands on one.
Meanwhile, Google appears to have plenty of stock of its Home speaker with shipping expected just a few days after the speaker is purchased.
Along with the Google Home Mini getting a discount, there’s also money off the larger Google Home.
This more powerful speaker has now been reduced to just £99 – saving customers £30 off the usual cost.

The Google Home deals arrive as the tech giant has granted its smart speaker lineup a new improvement.
Last month Google introduced the ability for users to make charity donations through its Play Store.
That meant with the tap of a button Android fans could send money to organisations such as UNICEF and Save the Children.
Google insisted such a move was made “in celebration of the holiday giving season”.
But now Google has issued an update to its Google Home range of devices that allows users to make donations with voice commands.
Simply saying “okay Google, donate £10” and then naming the charity in question should perform the function, according to 9to5Google.
Amazon has also recently pushed out its own upgrades to Echo devices with the online retailer announcing something called Alexa Skill Blueprints.
These allow owners to create their own Echo commands and ways of interacting with Alexa without needing to learn code.
There’s also another update coming to Echo devices which allows these intelligent devices to instantly know who’s talking to them.
Until now, the speaker would respond to everyone in the same way but this latest update enables the built-in Alexa assistant to recognise individual users within a household and deliver personalised experiences based on who’s speaking, including Calling & Messaging, Music, Shopping and Flash Briefings.
