Tom Brady EXPOSES Rob Gronkowski weakness as Patriots prepare for playoffs – WATCH

Brady, 41, left behind the safety of the pocket and took on Patriots tight end Gronkowski in a one-on-one match up during a recent practice session.

Brady is not well known for his ability to make plays with his legs – he rushed for 35 yards over 16 games this season.

But despite his limitations on the ground he easily found separation when faced up against Gronkowski.

In the first play, the Patriots number 12 eased past Gronkowski before making a spectacular one-handed catch.

But the manner of the catch will have New England fans questioning where this new ability was during last season’s Super Bowl – when Brady was unable to secure a five yard pass thrown to him off a trick play.

When the two Patriot veterans had a second go the pair swapped positions – with Brady now playing as cornerback and Gronkowski filling the wide receiver position.

Despite Gronkowski being in a more familiar position the five-time Super Bowl winner came out on top again.

As Gronkowski stretches out to get the football, Brady perfectly timed his defensive move and broke up the play with an extended arm.

In the third attempt Brady was back on offensive and once again left Gronkowski in his trails, as he secured a catch on the outside for a touchdown.

Although the pair can be seen laughing and joking during the training session, it will have done little to boost Gronkowski’s confidence over his defensive capabilities.

Earlier in the season the .

Gronkowski was criticised for his lack of defensive awareness during a Dolphins spectacular final play from their own 31 yard line, which involved three passes.

Who will Patriots face in the divisional round

The Patriots victory over the New York Jets in their final game of the regular season secured them the second seed in the AFC playoff bracket.

This is the ninth straight season of reaching the playoffs.

New England will return to the action to face the highest-seeded conference team that won on Wild Card weekend.

The only team the Patriots cannot face is the winner of Sunday night’s Indianapolis Colts, as they are the AFC conference 6th seed.

The Colts take on the Houston Texans on Saturday in the first of the Wild Card playoffs, which is followed by the Dallas Cowboys against the Seattle Seahawks.
