Call of Duty 2019: Black Ops 4 to be followed by new Modern Warfare or Ghosts sequel?

2019 teasers may have started to drop and the PS4 and Xbox One game looks like it could be a new Modern Warfare or a sequel to Ghosts.

COD fans are still busy working their way through Black Ops 4, which marks a continued return to form for Call of Duty after Infinite Warfare.

This upturn started with Call of Duty WW2 in 2017 and continued with last year’s Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

And COD fans will surely be hoping this great run of releases continues with Call of Duty 2019, with more details about it potentially emerging.

Rumours have long circulated that a new Modern Warfare title is in the works, possibly Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.

And now rumours of a return of the Modern Warfare franchise has been sparked once again.

Ashton Williams, senior communications manager at Infinity Ward, has been posting a number of images of skulls and ghosts on Twitter recently.

The tweets started in early December but have only recently been picked up by those in the Call of Duty community.

It’s sparked speculation among fans that Ashton could be subtly teasing the next Call of Duty title.

The title that immediately springs to mind is Call of Duty Ghosts, but Kotaku’s Jason Schreier ruled this out.

In a post on ResetEra Schreier said Call of Duty 2019 is not a sequel to Ghosts.

Which leaves the possibility that Ashton could be referencing the Modern Warfare series.

The teasers could be related to the Modern Warfare character Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley, an SAS operative fans of MW will be all too familiar with.

Could Activision have Modern Warfare 4 in the works, or maybe a prequel to the original Modern Warfare focused on Riley’s early days on the battlefield?

This isn’t the first time that rumours of a new Modern Warfare has surfaced.

Last year Craig Fairbrass, the actor who plays Gaz and Ghost in previous Modern Warfare games, may have dropped a huge hint.

On his Twitter profile he put that he featured in ‘Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 1/2/3/4’.

However, the reference to Modern Warfare 4 was later deleted.
