Avengers Endgame: Kevin Feige reveals REAL REASON behind Avengers Infinity War ending

It was a jaw-dropping ending. When was the last time audiences saw a Disney movie where the bad guy won and half the universe died? Avengers Infinity War was Thanos’ movie from start to finish; his hero’s journey. And now as fans gear up for in just four months time, Marvel boss Kevin Feige has revealed the real reason they went for that ending.

Speaking with Variety’s Playback podcast, Feige said: “We did Infinity War and Endgame at the same time, but those have been the longest gestating movies we’ve ever made.

“Four years now, almost five years. And it was always about delivering on the promise that we had set up.

“And the way the world received Infinity War was amazing, it was exactly what we wanted.

“And that ending, which we had been working on for many years, and I do remember people, on all of the movies we’ve made and I’m sure on many of the movies we’ll make in the future, whenever the good guy wins, which is often – good guy, good woman, good hero wins – they go, ‘Eh, it’s kind of predictable. Good guy wins.’”

Joe Russo said: “We did not [get any notes of concern]. They were incredibly encouraging of the choices we made.”

Anthony Russo added: “The only way to drive a conversation is to surprise people. If you’re constantly adhering to convention, you’re not going to surprise people.

“[Plot twists properly done create] “pop culture talking points for an audience. But they’re also just good narrative.”

Avengers Endgame will be released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
