Amazon’s award-winning Echo smart speakers are now some of the most popular gadgets on the market.
Powered by Alexa, these intelligent devices can answer a plethora of questions and perform numerous smart home tasks via simple voice controls.
Owners can ask their Echo speakers to play music, turn on lights, ramp up the heating and even deliver regular updates on the latest news and weather.
To add to its appeal new features are being added on a regular basis with Amazon recently releasing an upgrade which now allows their speakers to recognise specific voices in a household.
This now means the smart device can deliver personalised experiences based on who’s speaking, including Calling, Messaging, Music, Shopping and Flash Briefings.
And in another recent change the online retailer announced it was launching Alexa Skill Blueprints which allows owners to create their own Echo commands and ways of interacting with Alexa without needing to learn code.
Now with the New Year’s Eve celebrations about to get underway, Amazon has released a swathe of commands to help users get more from their Echo speakers tonight.
The list includes asking for games, music and even setting off some virtual fireworks.
So, if you own an Amazon Echo here’s 15 things to ask Alexa before the clock strikes midnight.
“Alexa, Happy New Year!”
“Alexa, do you know any party games we can play?”
“Alexa, play Pointless.”
“Alexa, play the New Year’s Eve playlist on Amazon Music.”
One track contains explicit lyrics. Prefer not to hear them? Just say, “Alexa, block explicit lyrics”.
“Alexa, how do you spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?”
“Alexa, recommend a New Year’s resolution.”
“Alexa, what did you get for Christmas?”
“Alexa, read A Christmas Carol.”
