AJ Pritchard, 24, and his brother Curtis Pritchard, 25, have broken their silence on the incident which took place in a nightclub in Nantwich, Cheshire, on December 27. Speaking in an interview with The Sun, the professional dancer revealed his brother risked his own dancing career to save his. He told the publication: “Curtis risked his own dancing career to save mine as he threw himself in front of the attackers so they couldn’t get to me. “He was thinking of both my dancing career with my legs and my TV career with my face.”
AJ added: “He tried to protect me and in doing so saved my life and my legs from danger.”
Curtis, who stars in the Irish version of the show Dancing with the Stars, sustained injuries to his knee, eye and face.
A spokesman for the brothers told Express.co.uk: “Curtis is due to undergo an emergency operation in the next few days to correct the damages he has sustained to his knee.
“He is also recovering from injuries to his eye and face.”
The brothers were reportedly set upon by a group of eight whilst they were on a night out over the festive break.
AJ had since revealed the extent of his injuries as a result of the incident as he admitted he has “painful bruises” to his face, arms, body and legs.
He told the publication: “When I looked in the mirror I was shocked and upset.
“My whole face looked swollen and bruised and there were ring marks from the punching all over my arms. It was awful. I’m painfully bruised, especially on my shins. They’re really bad.”
The dancer also admitted he had to put ice all over his body in order to stop the swelling.
AJ continued: “I needed to ice all over my body and face to stop the swelling but Curtis got the brunt of it as he was protecting me.”
Fans and Strictly co-stars alike have flocked to the dancer’s social media accounts to wish the brothers a speedy recovery.
One fan took to Twitter and said; “Sorry to hear what happened to you both. Sending you love and hugs and hope for a quick recovery.”
