Piers Morgan: Good Morning Britain host hits back at ex-rugby star who branded him a t**t

Chris Pilgrim insulted Piers Morgan, 53, after the Good Morning Britain host revealed he was blocking people on Twitter.

The former rugby star suggested the broadcaster block him on the website too, as he was only following him to escape the “Twitter’s algorithm bubble”.

Tweeting Piers, 32-year-old Chris began: “@piersmorgan are you still on your strict blocking spree?

“I only follow you because I believe it’s important to follow people you don’t like or agree with to escape twitters algorithm bubble.

“But you really are a t**t! You could take it out of my hands?”

Clapping back, Piers replied: “I could, but then you’d be trapped in your own echo chamber of ignorance.”

He followed up the message, by concluding: “BLOCK request denied.”

The online spat thrilled many of his 6.51 million followers, who rushed to the comment section to discuss the exchange.

One wrote: “I think @piersmorgan didn’t get the xmas present he wanted this year. He’s been well moody on here these past few days.”(sic)

Another person added: “This tweet and reply is brilliant,” while a third said: “Just too funny!”

Someone else remarked: “A bit harsh that. He’s genuine and entertaining, but has a few t*****h tendencies.”

Piers’ comments come after he spoke out about being humiliated on national television when he attempted to expose one star’s stupidity on Good Morning Britain.

The father-of-four was was left red-faced when he interviewed Love Island star Hayley Hughes on the ITV breakfast show in June.

Testing the reality star’s general knowledge, he quizzed her on Pythagoras, but failed to answer his own question correctly.

Describing the hilarious blunder as a “humiliating cock-up”, the broadcaster joked about mugging himself off on national television.

Writing in his Mail On Sunday column, he penned: “When Love Island dimwit Hayley Hughes appeared on GMB, I decided to expose her stupidity by asking her: ‘Do you know Pythagoras’ theorem to five decimal places?’

“When she said no, Susanna Reid asked me if I did. ‘Yes, it’s 3.147…’ I confidently began, before one of our camera crew shouted out: ‘That’s Pi, not Pythagoras!’”

“I froze in horror. He was right, and I’d mugged myself right off,” he finished.

During the incident, his co-host Susanna quipped: “You just showed yourself up Piers Morgan on national television.”

Admitting his fault, Piers replied: “I’ve just been mugged off, haven’t I?” before guest Charlie Frederik jested: “You’ve been pied”.
