Carol Kirkwood: BBC Breakfast star speaks out on Botox – 'People expect you to look young'

The 56-year-old broadcaster has ruled out having Botox, as she revealed the pressures of getting older in the public eye.

Carol Kirkwood has refused to get rid of her laughter lines and questioned why it was wrong to grow old gracefully.

“I won’t be getting rid of my laughter lines,” she insisted. “What’s wrong with getting old? We all do.”

She continued: “Why am I worried about a few lines?’ It’s terribly sad there’s such a youth culture these days.

“People expect you to look young. Why? There’s beauty in every age.”

In an interview with The Herald in 2014, the radio presenter also discussed being scrutinised for what she wears on BBC Breakfast.

Twitter trolls can get very “personal” about her looks and some even complain if she wears the same outfit twice.

She said of the online bullies: “When someone says, ‘I’ve seen that dress seven times in the last month, stop wearing it,’ you think, ‘You wouldn’t say that to somebody in the office’.

“But you take it on the chin. I’m not there for my wardrobe.”

The meteorologist was recently showered with compliments from fans after her co-star Dan Walker shared a picture of her on Instagram.

Dan, 41, paid tribute to weather reporter on the photo-sharing website and praised her for bringing a “smile to everyone’s face”.

Captioning a stunning black and white picture of the meteorologist, the BBC Breakfast host penned: “There are some people who brighten every room.

“Carol Kirkwood is normally in the weather studio in London, but today she was in the BBC Breakfast studio in Salford.”

He continued: “She put a smile on everyone’s face (she did bring chocolate). Carol is a joy-spreader and we love her.”

Carol looked sensational in the monochrome photograph and sported a chic printed shirt for the glamorous photoshoot.

The stunner’s blonde locks were curled and left to drape across her shoulders, while her make-up was perfectly applied to highlight her natural beauty.

Many of the star’s fans adored the picture, with some leaving her compliments in the comment section below the image.

One admirer wrote: “What a stunning photo of a lovely lady,” while another shared: “A lovely photograph of a beautiful lady.”

A third fan added: “She literally is like a ray of sunshine even when she’s telling us we’ll be getting awful weather she still seems to sugar coat it for us bless her. Love you, Carol.”

Someone else gushed: “Love Carol, she’s just always so bright and cheerful a beautiful lady inside and out.”
