Angelina Jolie: I haven't ruled out a new role in politics

The 43-year-old star was pressed about her political ambitions by presenter Justin Webb when she guest edited yesterday’s show, above. The campaigner and special envoy to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, replied: “If you’d asked me 20 years ago, I would’ve laughed. I always say I’ll go where I’m needed, I don’t know if I’m fit for politics.

“I’m also able to work with governments and I’m also able to work with militaries – and so I sit in a very interesting place of being able to get a lot done.

“So I’m pretty open and out there. I can take a lot on the chin so that’s good.

“But I honestly will do whatever I think can really make change.”

Jolie had a bitter separation from fellow star Brad Pitt in 2016.

The film director admitted to being wild and a “bit of a young punk” in her youth, but added: “I don’t feel I’ve changed much at all.”

She also spoke of how she monitored her children’s social media activities.

Like “most parents”, she cannot control everything they see.

But she revealed: “We’re the last family that hasn’t gone on Facebook.”

US politics, sexual violence and the refugee crisis were also topics on the show.

Previous guest editors have included Prince Harry, Lenny Henry and Richard Branson.
