Kevin Spacey answers sex charge as Frank Underwood, his House of Cards character

The 59-year-old wore a dark shirt and an apron decorated with Santa figures for an oddball film that surfaced on his Twitter account. The video was called Let Me Be Frank, apparently a reference to Frank Underwood, the ruthless US politician he played in the Netflix series House of Cards. In a southern drawl as in his role he said: “If I didn’t pay the price for the things we both know I did do, I’m certainly not gonna pay the price for the things I didn’t do.”

It surfaced as news broke that Spacey – already a pariah in the stage and movie world – is to appear before a judge to answer one charge of indecent assault and battery.

The charge against the double Oscar winner arises from an alleged 2016 incident on the playground island of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

Spacey has been accused of getting an 18-year-old drunk, putting his hand down his underpants and fondling his private parts.

The allegations were first made late last year by former Boston news anchor Heather Unruh, who said the victim was her son.

She claimed: “My son was a starstruck, straight, 18-yearold young man who had no idea that the famous actor was an alleged sexual predator or that he was about to become his next victim.”

The incident is said to have happened after Spacey saw the teen in a restaurant.

The charge against the star, whose full name is Kevin Spacey Fowler, was confirmed by Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe.

Mr O’Keefe said in a statement the actor would appear at the Nantucket District Court on January 7.

He added: “The Clerk Magistrate has issued a criminal complaint of indecent assault and battery against Kevin S Fowler, also known as Kevin Spacey.”

Soon after the hearing was confirmed Spacey’s “Frank” video turned up.

In the film, riddled with double-meaning, he said: “I showed you exactly what people are capable of.You trusted me even though you knew you shouldn’t.

“They’re just dying to have me declare that everything said is true and that I got what I deserved. But you wouldn’t believe the worst without evidence, would you?”

Spacey was axed from House Of Cards after a string of allegations of inappropriate conduct began to surface from men. More than 30 have accused him to date.

He publicly admitted he was homosexual but was rebuked by the gay community, which accused him of tying his sexual identity to the allegations.
