Kate Middleton: Duchess stuns in red at Sandringham as she chats to ‘rival’ Meghan Markle

Kate Middleton and Prince William were seen arriving to attend the Christmas Day church service at the Church of St Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate today. The pair arrived alongside Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as well as the younger Princes’ father Prince Charles, 70. The Duchess of Cambridge showed off her impeccable style and opted for a chic red coat – fitting for the time of year. The long-sleeved, fitted coat featured a smart velvet collar and velvet cuffs.

Suitable for the cold weather, it fell below her knees and tapered in at the waist, emphasising her svelte frame.

Kate wore a small broach and teemed the chic coat with burgundy gloves and heels. She also sported a felt burgundy headband with a black felt bow by milliner Jane Taylor.

In her hand, Kate carried a clutch bag of a similar hue. The Duchess wore her hair part up and part down and opted for simple small hoop earrings.

Kate was the only one of the ‘fab four’ who chose to wear a bright colour and stood out among the group.

Her husband William wore a classic suit covered with a long dark coat and was wrapped up against the cold with a blue scarf.

Their three children did not arrive with the party but Kate could be seen chatting with her sister-in-law Meghan Markle.

Meghan wore a long navy dress and coat as well as heeled black leather boots.

Royal expert Rhiannon Mills has insisted both Kate and Meghan will be “grinning and bearing it” as they spend time together over the festive period.

The pair have been subject to intense scrutiny over the past months over rumours of a split between their households, and have been described in many reports as “rivals”.

Speaking of the alleged feud, Sky News royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills said: “I think there are elements of truth within it. I think, look, Kate and Meghan – are they best friends? Probably not.

“But they are probably not the only sister in laws who, on Christmas Day today will be grinning and bearing it maybe a little bit. But yes, I think today we are going to see that united front.”

Kate left shoppers open-mouthed when she appeared in The Range in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, on Sunday to buy trolley loads of Christmas presents.

She even took her two eldest children George and Charlotte to pick up more than one trolley full of children’s pictures, books and stationery.

She was spotted by teacher Sarah Daniels, 43, who even noticed what adorable nickname the Duchess called her children.

At one point Charlotte sat on the floor before her mother told her: “Get up, poppet”, according to Mrs Daniels.

George then asked if they could buy some dinosaur slime, and Kate again called her son “poppet.”
