Galaxy Note 9 owners receive bad news as Samsung delays a major upgrade

Galaxy Note 9 released back in August and is certainly one of the best phones of 2018.

That is because the device arrived with a deluge of flagship features and introduced laudable improvements to its S Pen accessory.

Galaxy Note 9 comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display that is easily one of the best around.

That is because the panel oozes vibrant colours and offers brilliant viewing angles.

Galaxy Note 9 also has a huge 4,000mAh battery that breezes through an entire day of usage.

The phablet is powered by either Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor or the South Korean tech giant’s own Exynos 9810 chipset depending on the region.

Samsung typically varies the processor inside its devices depending on the territory it is sold in.

UK customers will receive the Exynos 9810, however it is worth noting there is not a significant performance difference between either chipset.

Even though the Galaxy Note 9 debuted in August, the same month Google released Android 9 Pie, the phablet arrived pre-installed with Android 8 Oreo.

Since the new software’s release, manufacturers have gradually started rolling out updates to their devices.

However, Samsung had been notably absent from such a move.

But this week the firm started rolling out updates for Android 9 Pie and its new One UI skin to Galaxy S9 owners.

Both SamMobile and Android Authority reported their Galaxy S9 units had been granted the huge upgrade.

However, it is worth noting both devices in question were European.

That means it is unclear if Samsung’s rollout is taking place across the globe or in limited territories.

So it is probably worth checking your device for software updates regularly to see if it is available.

Android 9 Pie was initially supposed to launch for the Galaxy S9, S9+ and Galaxy Note 9 in January.

However, the tech giant has updated its Members application with a revised set of delivery dates for the latest and greatest Google software.

Now, the Galaxy Note 9 is set to receive Android 9 Pie in February, a month later than initially expected.

Samsung’s One UI skin runs on top of Android 9 Pie and brings a number of new features in its own right.

The software has been specifically designed to make navigating larger devices more simple.

Samsung said: “One UI helps you focus on what really matters to you. With hardware and software working together in harmony, see only what you need, using and viewing your phone with an experience that feels second nature.

“Because it’s the small details that make a big difference.”

The software also brings a fresh aesthetic for Samsung fans to enjoy.
