West Ham celebration slammed and Troy Deeney warned after Watford antics

Deeney powered in a penalty to put the Hornets one up on Saturday – then sprinted towards the Hammers faithful.

The striker slid towards where the West Ham supporters were before aggressively punching the corner flag out.

Ref Lee Mason had a word with Deeney but kept his cards in his pocket but his antics have gone down badly with Sky Sports man Kamara.

Watford went on to win the match 2-0.

“It’s a great penalty, it’s absolutely magnificent from Troy Deeney. You don’t save them,” he said.

“The only thing I would say Troy is ‘don’t go to the crowd’.

“We’ve seen what’s happened over the last few weeks – don’t go to the crowd.

“And someone is going to do a cruciate ligament doing that slide.”

The slide went wrong as Deeney’s knee dug into the ground and that in particular irked guest Mick McCarthy.

“I never have understood that celebration,” he said. “Everytime I look at it I think someone will do their knee.”

Victory put the Hornets up to seventh and jubilant boss Javi Gracia said: “It was a good performance against a team who had been in a good moment and we knew it would be demanding.

“After we went in front West Ham created more chances.

“But I was never scared about the result and was always confident in my players.

“We defended well against setpieces and got a deserved victory. We had to kill the game and we eventually got a second goal after we had been very organised and had concentrated well.

“We dominated the game and did not suffer a lot.”
