Man Utd news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already tells bosses he wants Josh King transfer

The Manchester United caretaker manager is said to a huge fan of his fellow Norwegian having worked with him at youth level while King was at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer was in charge of the reserve side when King was coming through the ranks but he made only one senior appearance before eventually being sold to Blackburn.

The Sun claim they will now look to bring their former player back to the club but say Cherries boss Eddie Howe is keen for him to stay.

But Howe could be powerless if King, 26, wants to go and he could cost around £25million.

Tottenham have also been linked with the forward, who has scored five Premier League goals this season.

United had struggled for goals all season until Solskjaer masterminded an emphatic 5-1 victory over Cardiff in his first game in charge.

However, they remain short of options in attack, with Romelu Lukaku missing lots of the season through injury and Alexis Sanchez struggling for form.

United are also said to be keen on bringing in a new centre-back – something Jose Mourinho was demanding before he was sacked last week.

They were linked with Kalidou Koulibaly, Toby Alderweireld and Raphael Varane before Mourinho’s departure.

Despite encouraging performances from Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones against Cardiff, Eric Bailly still appears to be out of favour and Chris Smalling is their only other recognised centre-half.

The report in The Sun claims United have now turned their attention to Porto star Eder Militao to plug the gaps in defence.

The Brazilian, 20, has previously interested Real Madrid and the club are currently trying to increase the release clause in his contract to £45m.

“There was talk of one or two clubs,” Porto president Pinto Da Costa said.

“There is a termination clause, we are trying to negotiate to renew the contract and increase the clause.”
