Mariah Carey: All I Want For Christmas Is You singer is worth this massive sum

Mariah Carey is as much a part of Christmas as roast turkey and the Queen’s speech. She is most well known at this time of year for well-loved classic All I Want For Christmas Is You. However, the diva’s career has spanned an impressive 30 years and she has many more strings to her bow than just the festive ditty. In fact, the New York-born singer-songwriter has released 15 studio albums, as well as several films and books.

So how much is Mariah Carey worth? Given the amazing success of All I Want For Christmas Is You, the sum is pretty high.

Mariah has accumulated a reported net worth of $520 million, according to Money Inc.

In 2015 she earned $27 million from her Las Vegas residency and made the Forbes list of top-earning women in music.

A fraction of her earnings come every year from All I Want For Christmas Is You which is played annually without fail.

According to PrezzyBox, Mariah has already earned about £625,314 from the song in 2018.

In total All I Want For Christmas Is You has earned Mariah $60million in royalties alone, according to Newsweek.

The pop star co-wrote the song with Walter Afanasief in 1994 as part of her first Christmas album, and fourth studio album, Merry Christmas.

The album has benefited from 311,000 sales since the turn of the century, according to Official Charts.

This makes it the seventh biggest album of the century, behind such favourite stars as Elvis Presley and Cliff Richard.

Michael Buble’s album Christmas is the number one best selling album of the 21st century.

It has sold 2.78 million in the UK and has spent over seven months in the Top 10 in total over the last seven years.

Mariah Carey has previously revealed how she has suffered from bipolar disorder and praised fans for their support.

“Everybody has their own stuff,” she said. “As long as I don’t have to stop being myself, it’s just who I am.”

She said the condition stemmed from “an identity crisis during childhood” where she “experienced the darker side of life due to being bi-racial”.

Mariah has also had a tumultuous love life. She was wed to music executive Tommy Mottola, 68, and then to presenter Nick Cannon, 37.

She is mother to seven-year-old twins with Cannon and was engaged to billionaire James Packer, 50, but the relationship ended in October 2016.

The singer now seems to have found happiness with dancer Bryan Tanaka, 35.
