Stacey Dooley: Brendan Cole speaks out after fan slams him for being 'sour' towards star

Brendan Cole, 42, who was axed from Strictly Come Dancing after appearing in every series since the competition began in 2004, spoke out about Kevin Clifton, 36, and Stacey Dooley, 31, following their win last Saturday.

The professional dancer appeared on Good Morning Britain where he admitted he was unsure how he felt about the final and claimed the judges had been giving out too many 10s in the series.

One Strictly fan went on to congratulate Stacey and Kevin on their win whilst saying Brendan had a “case of sour grapes”.

They wrote: “Congrats @StaceyDooley fantastic dances and a worthy winner. Ignore @BrendanCole Classic case of sour grapes.”

Brendan hit back at the fan’s claim and wrote on Twitter in view of his 188,000 Twitter followers: “Ummm? I haven’t said anything against @StaceyDooley!

“She did an incredible job on the show from start to finish Kev played a blinder and I have congratulated them.”

He added: “What’s wrong with you!”

On Good Morning Britain on Monday, Brendan spoke out about this year’s series of the BBC One competition.

He said: “It’s a funny thing – I don’t know how I felt about the final.

“There were too many things in the show that were a bit…” he trailed off.

The New Zealand-born star continued: “I was really disappointed with how many 10s were thrown about across the board from various judges.

“10 means it’s perfect and I’m sorry but I haven’t seen a perfect dance on Strictly in my 15 years.”

Brendan also said it would have been nice to see Kevin a little feisty in the final.

He commented how Kevin was “just upset he didn’t get a nine or a 10″.

The dancer added: “I just thought it’s about time Kevin showed… it’s not all Mr Nice Guy.

“Nobody in television is Mr Nice Guy all the time.”

Meanwhile, Kevin revealed where he has placed his Glitterball after Stacey lost hers temporarily.

The professional dancer shared a photo to his Instagram yesterday of the coveted trophy at the bottom of his Christmas tree.

It comes after Dr Ranj Singh claimed Stacey lost the prized possession at the after party.

Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return to BBC One in 2019.
