Hellboy official trailer RELEASED one day early: Is it as good as the original? WATCH here

There was a little confusion as a naughty hacker leaked the trailer online 24 hours ahead of its official release. Lionsgate moved impressively quickly and has just released the gorgeous HD official version online. Hopefully nobody will be feeling Hellboys Right Hand of Doom swinging thier way after all. Either way, fans will be thrilled to see how true to the source material the reboot remains, as the inevitable comparisons with Guillermo del Toros’s beloved version emerge.

David Harbour looks suitably world-weary as the titular anti-hero. If anything, this incarnation seems darked and more scarred that the last big screen outing.

As always, it seems that Hellboy’s desire to do good are hampered by his rather unorthojdox appearance. The trailer shows him leaping into action at a major crime scene, only to be fired on by officers thinking he is the enemy.

It is also undeniably spectacular with dramatic scenes featuring hellish monsters lead by Milla Jovovich’s demonic Queen Nimue.

The closing image of Hellboy with his horns aflame, wielding a fiery sword with a flaming crown hovering over his head is an absolutely gorgeous cinematic moment. The trailer reinforces the rather more comicbook horror elements of the source material, rather than del Toro’s more painterly Gothic fairytale aesthetic.

Hellboy will arrive in cinemas next April and is a completely new big screen reboot of the iconic character.

Guiilermo del Toro’s two movies are hugely popular with fans, who had been hoping for a final close to that trilogy.

Instead, director Neil Marshall has worked with Hellboy creator Mike Mignola to bring a brand new incarnation of the anti-hero and his team at the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.

The new movie brings in Ian McShane asĀ his mentor, Trevor Bruttenholm.

The first Hellboy trailer gives fans a look at the new team dynamic at the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.

Clearly Mignola’s dark humour and spikey relationships will be continued here with Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio and Sasha Lane as streetsmart Londoner Alice Monaghan.

The cast also includes Sophie Okonedo and Thomas Haden Church.

HELLBOY IS OUT ON APRIL 12, 2019
