It’s the holiday season and the scourge of package banditry is more of a concern than ever. There are ways to avoid your parcels getting snatched, like making sure you’re home at the time of delivery, getting them delivered to work, or getting big ol’ safe. But if you’re Mark Rober, you might want one of your boxes to get taken because it’s actually a decoy glitter-bomb fart-spray nightmare.

After having one of his actual packages stolen, the DIYer YouTube star built a honeypot trap including four livestreaming phones and a mechanism designed to throw glitter and fire fart spray when opened, sending footage of the whole event back to base. It’s a plan that works disturbingly well, given that Rober manages to catch no less than four thieves with various boxes.

While Rober obviously includes the footage of the thieves getting the surprise they have in store, the individuals’ faces are mercifully blurred. A good call given that the ultimate goal is deterrence and the package was designed to be unrealistically tempting since it’s not inside a cardboard box.

It’s impossible to know whether these porch pirates were career offenders or folks who had a more momentary lapse in judgement but one thing is for sure: You can bet they won’t be trying it again.
