Piers Morgan: GMB host sparks concern amongst fans after SHOCK health announcement

Piers Morgan, 53, provided his 6.49 million Twitter followers with a “health update” after admitting he was feeling ill on Good Morning Britain.

The broadcaster told fans his condition had worsened, and shared a picture of the medication he was prescribed by the doctor.

Having originally put his sickness down to “man-flu”, Piers revealed he was now suffering from bronchitis, sinusitis and laryngitis.

On Twitter, he wrote: “HEALTH UPDATE: Man-flu now upgraded to bronchitis, sinusitis and a dash of laryngitis. The trifecta of hell for TV presenting.

“Doc’s given me this lot to ‘nuke it all away.’ I’ll be at my ⁦GMB⁩ work station tomorrow if it kills me, which at this rate it might just do.”

Fans of the star insisted he take a day off work, with some saying they were concerned about his co-host Susanna Reid, 48, getting an infection.

One person wrote: “Wow! I’d take the day off don’t be a hero. Think of being better for Christmas with the family.”

Another sympathised: “You poor thing. Stay home, although we will you miss you,” while another said: “Hope you feel better soon.”

Mentioning his co-star Susanna, a third commentator added: “Poor Susanna.”

Others joked about the father-of-four’s poor health, with one writing: “If you had the flu you would not have the strength to write a tweet – man up.”

Earlier this week Piers and Susanna held an exclusive interview with Meghan Markle’s father Thomas Markle.

At the end of the highly emotional chat, Piers pleaded with Meghan, 37, to get in touch with the soon-to-be grandfather.

“If Meghan is watching this and I feel she will because she will be intrigued. Come on Meghan. This is your dad and it’s Christmas,” he began.

“I feel really sad about this and I hope it can be resolved because the longer it goes on the worse it can get.”

Thomas, 74, went on to suggest the Queen should get involved and help mediate between him and the pregnant Royal.

“I would appreciate anything that she can do,” he said. “I would think she would want to resolve family problems.”

He continued: “All families – royal or otherwise – are all the same and should be together, certainly around the holidays.

“I’m very disappointed. I’m not sure why it’s happening.”

When asked what he wanted to say to Meghan, Thomas replied: “I love you very much, you’re my daughter and I would really like to hear from you. Whatever differences we have, we’re family.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
