Anca Pop dead: Romanian singer dies in car crash aged 34

Romanian police have reportedly said she died after her car plunged into the River Danube. USA Today stated emergency authorities identified her body after divers found her car in southwestern Romania on Monday evening. Reports have claimed the singer’s sister alerted police after she failed to arrive home on Sunday. It is believed a police investigation is currently underway.

News website A1 reported Anca drowned a few miles from her home after her car plunged into the river. 

She had reportedly been on her way to visit her mother.

The news website also published a statement from Corina Moraru of Border Police, which read: “The Mehedinti border police officers, while on a patrol-research mission of the area of ​​responsibility, observed a river car 993 in the village of Sviniţa, a car fallen in the Danube river.

“The Border Police immediately took the measure to notify the Inspectorate of Emergency of the County Police Inspectorate and of the Orsova chapel, for taking the necessary legal measures.”

The singer’s hits included Loco Poco, Super Cool and Free Love.

She also collaborated with Bosnian musician Goran Bregovic on his Champagne for Gypsies album.

Aside from music, Anca Pop appeared in Playboy magazine and was passionate about spiritual travel.

She regularly gave her social media fans an insight into her travelling in the likes of India and Thailand.

Since the news of Anca’s death, many fans have flocked to Twitter to pay a tribute to the star.

One fan wrote: “RIP Anca Pop, you were such an amazing artist and my best friend, I’m so broken right now, I don’t even have words.”

Other fans flocked to her Instagram page to pay a tribute.

Anca’s last Instagram post sees her relaxing as she embraced the view of Danube river.

The singer had her back to the camera giving fans a glimpse of her surroundings.

In view of her 12,000 followers, she simply wrote: “Dunare.”

One user commented: “Hard to believe you left! Rest in peace!”

A second added: “Anca I’m so sorry you had such a terribly ending.”
