Kevin Clifton: Stacey Dooley’s Strictly partner reveals reason why he has NEVER won show

Kevin Clifton, 36, has been a firm fixture on Strictly Come Dancing since joining the show in 2013.

The Grimsby-born dancer has since been in four semi-finals but has failed to ever get his hands on the Glitterball trophy.

Kevin was questioned about why he has never taken home the title on Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 today.

Chris, 52, said to the dancer: “So Kevin, how have you messed up all the other finals and what are you going to do this time?”

Laughing, Kevin replied: ”I just crumble under pressure in the final!

“I don’t know. It’s all too much.”

Chris went on: “What’s it like to lose a final?”

Kevin laughed: ”I’m becoming brilliant at just standing there and smiling and telling everyone it’s all about the taking part.”

He added: “It doesn’t matter who wins because we are all brilliant in this line-up but underneath I’m raging! Especially when my sister wins!”

Kevin was pipped to the post by his sister Joanne Clifton who won with BBC presenter Ore Oduba two years ago.

Stacey Dooley, 31, and Kevin also gave some details away about their showdance which they will perform Saturday night to song Land of A Thousand Dances.

Kevin divulged: “For our showdance we’ve got this moving set which has to be timed to perfection.

“So the prop boys are much part of this dance as we are.”

However, Stacey said Kevin has been distracted during rehearsals for their routine.

“They’re lovely the prop boys but they distract Kevin,” Stacey criticised.

She revealed they talk about football together instead of getting stuck into their dance.

The documentary maker said: “They’re talking about the Chelsea scores and I think ‘Get off we’ve got to do this!’”

Stacey and Kevin are the current favourites to get their hands on the Glitterball trophy, according to Bookmaker’s Coral.

“There is just days to go now until the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2018 is crowned but in our eyes Stacey has one hand on the trophy already,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.

“The public have been on her side throughout the series and she’s backed that up with some splendid displays on the dance floor which leaves her as the odds on favourite to win come next Sunday.”

Strictly Come Dancing 2018 final airs Saturday on BBC One.
