NBA news: Kevin Durant could QUIT the Warriors for two reasons – pundit

That is the verdict of NBA pundit Nick Wright.

Reports emerged suggesting Durant and Toronto Raptors star Kawhi Leonard are being lined up with moves to the Los Angeles Clippers.

A switch is possible with the pair being free agents next summer and the Clippers would have space to accommodate two max-salary contract players.

Durant has already won two rings and has previously been an MVP too.

Along with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, Durant has made the Warriors into an indomitable force.

Although the Clippers rumours have been circulating, Wright has revealed that Durant would leave the Warriors if he didn’t like San Francisco and if he wanted to prove himself and win an NBA Championship elsewhere.

“I don’t think KD has to leave,” Wright said on First Things First.

“He will never be in a better position to win championships than he is at Golden State.

“The only reason you would leave Golden State is if you hate the area which he obviously doesn’t.

“Or if you want to win a Championship in a different way if you have a top 4/5 player with you.”

Wright, however, admits that were Durant and Leonard to join the Clippers it would be bigger than Anthony Davis teaming up with LeBron James at the Los Angeles Lakers.

He added: “I mean people can talk about the second and third best players and the fourth and the fifth best players in the world.

“It would become the best duo in the world unless LeBron got Anthony Davis to go along with him.

“Steph [Curry] is not going anywhere.

“It would be a dominant, instant championship contender.

“It would probably be a championship favourite.”
