LeBron James: NBA analyst reveals reason for Kevin Durant comments on Lakers star

That’s the view of NBA analyst Doug Gottlieb who saw Durant’s recent comments on Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron.

Durant hit the headlines recently after brandishing teams where LeBron stars as ‘toxic’.

And the Golden State Warriors ace has aimed another sly dig at LeBron James.

“Kobe [Bryant], MJ [Michael Jordan] and Kyrie [Irving],” Durant said when asked to name his top three players of all time.

“Just the way they move, I don’t understand why people don’t realise what they’re seeing in these three, especially Jordan and Kobe.

“Kyrie is younger than me, and that’s one of my best friends, so I watch his stuff.

“I get to play with Steph [Curry] every day, so I know his game inside and out.

“But watching Kobe and Mike, I’m like, ‘How do you not realise how good these dudes are?’

“How do you not say they’re by far better than anybody who’s played the game? Just by the way they move, how fluid they are.”

But Gottlieb believes Durant doesn’t pick LeBron because of his style of play, preferring a more creative and hard-working player.

“What did KD tell us before the season that KD would be in front of a microphone would be? Honest to a fault,” Gottlieb said on Fox Sports Radio.

“Part of this is I don’t think he and LeBron James are friends.

“Secondly I think some of this is a pushback at the way LeBron is fawned over by the media.

“And part of it is his actual opinion.

“He’s saying he doesn’t like the style because he’s just bigger and stronger, Durant likes guys that have got to work for it.

“They’ve got to figure out a way as the game evolves, as their body changes they have to change.

“It’s not to say LeBron James isn’t good, but it’s to say LeBron James isn’t necessarily the creative type.

“We’ve created this world where everybody has to love everybody, where everybody has to say that’s what current is the greatest. And if you don’t say it you’re just being a contrarian to be a contrarian.”
