Xbox One news: Microsoft tease big news for Xbox gamers is coming in 2019

Microsoft is hinting that 2019 is going to be an even better year for Xbox One gamers than 2018.

While big news is expected to be shared next year, no concrete details have been revealed yet about the tech giant’s future console plans.

So far we know it as simply Xbox Scarlett, Microsoft’s next-gen console project and future rival to the PS5.

Analysts are predicting that next-gen reveals will start dropping in 2019 and now Microsoft has teased their own big news for next year.

Xbox exec Phil Spencer was speaking at the Game Awards when he decided to start highlighting what will be coming in the future.

“We’ve got Crackdown 3, we’re going to be launching that,” Spencer said.

“We’ve got Gears 5, which will just be incredible. One of my favourite franchises that have come out this generation for us, Ori… We’ll see the next Ori come out.”

He also won’t further than just naming known games coming soon to Xbox consoles, hinting that next year was going to be filled with news for gamers.

“We’re gonna be back here at E3, which will be incredible, right here in this theatre,” he added, referencing the Microsoft Theater as where the E3 keynote will take place.

“This year was an awesome year for gamers, and I look at next year and I think that it’s just lined up to be another better year.”

And fans will certainly be hoping to learn more about Microsoft’s plans for their next console in 2019.

The Xbox One X has proven a hit with fans but functions only as a mid-generation refresh.

It’s compatible with the current generation of Xbox One gamers, with Project Scarlett expected to offer a leap forward for console specs.

According to a new report by trusted insider Brad Sams (from Thurott.com), Microsoft’s new console – which is codenamed Xbox Scarlett – will have a 2020 release date.

Interestingly, this is the same time Sony is reportedly planning to release the PS5.

Sams also reveals potential specs for the Xbox 2, which could be powered by AMD’s next-generation GPU technology.

Likewise, AMD’s powerful Zen 2 CPU is also said to be included in the final product.

And it’s good news if you skipped the Xbox One because the next-gen Xbox will reportedly support backwards compatibility.

The tech giant has made a pledge that Xbox gamers will be able to continue enjoying their digital library of titles on future Microsoft devices

Elsewhere, Microsoft is supposedly prioritising digital delivery of content, so expect an evolved form of the Xbox Games Pass.

Microsoft confirmed that it is working on new Xbox hardware during its E3 2018 press conference.

It’s likely we’ll see more from the console next year, as Microsoft brings the Xbox One’s lifecycle to an end.
