Hopeless romantic Harry Redknapp, 71, has captivated the public with his heartfelt confessions of love for Sandra, also 71, while in the I’m A Celebrity jungle. The football manager compared his marriage to “winning the lottery” as he raved about his wife of 54 years to Fleur East and Sair Khan on the ITV show. He told them “She’s my life. I’m a bit scared, getting a bit older. “I love her too much, if anything happened it would just kill me.
‘We just get on so well, I only want to be with her.
“I can never wait to see her. Jamie says “you’ve won the lottery”.
But Harry also had to confess to accidentally running over his wife in October 2016, leaving her seriously injured.
But what happened?
Harry revealed his wife’s coat and foot got caught in the door after he dropped her off at the shops in Westbourne.
He later told the BBC: “It was just a freak accident you know.
“Sandra went across the road and unfortunately she had gone behind the car to cross over the road and as I went to drive off I drove over her ankle.
“It’s lucky, if the full weight of the car had gone over the ankle god knows what would have happened to her. We’re ok.
“She had an operation on her ankle that went well.”
Thankfully Sandra made a swift recovery after being taken to hospital.
She was home 24 hours later on crutches with her right leg in a cast.
Harry admitted what had happened to his campmates in a recent frank confession.
