PS4 News: Great news for Sony as huge PlayStation milestone surpasses Microsoft’s Xbox

Sony PlayStation is currently the dominant hardware maker in the video games market.

The company surpassed Microsoft during this generation, having lagged during the time of the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The PS4 and PS4 Pro games list include some top exclusives while it was recently confirmed that over 84 million consoles had been sold.

And now it is being predicted that the PS4 has now outsold the lifetime sales of the Xbox 360.

Analysts estimate that the PS4 sold 86.15 million units by the end of November, beating the Xbox 360’s 85.80 million units.

It should be noted that Uncharted 4 is reported to be one of the best selling first-party titles of this generation.

But with so many more console now sold since that game was released, and with titles like The Last of Us Part 2 still to come, it looks like this record could still be broken.

Here’s more information from VGchartz, who have looked at PS4 sales by regions and which titles have proven the most successful.

“Breaking down PlayStation 4 sales by region, it has sold 34.77 million units in Europe, 26.33 million units in the US and 7.21 million units in Japan.

“The Xbox 360 sold 45.14 million units in the US, 25.87 million units in Europe and 1.67 million units in Japan.

“Breaking down sales in Europe even further, the PlayStation 4 has sold 5.60 million units in the UK, 6.01 million units in Germany and 4.77 million units in France.

“The Xbox 360 sold 9.14 million units in the UK, 2.67 million units in Germany and 3.58 million units in France.

“The best-selling PlayStation 4 game is Grand Theft Auto V with 18.77 million units sold to date and climbing, while Kinect Adventures was the best-selling Xbox 360 game with 22.10 million units sold.

“However, the best-selling non-bundled Xbox 360 games is Grand Theft Auto V with 15.86 million units sold.

“Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the best-selling first-party games on the PlayStation 4 with 10.16 million units sold.”

This latest news comes off the back of other positive reports regarding how well the PS4 has sold in recent months.

The tech giant reportedly outsold both the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch during the month of October.

That’s according to the latest data shared by the NPD group, which suggest that PlayStation 4 hardware unit sales achieved an all-time October high for the platform.

It’s even been reported that October 2018 unit sales reached the highest mark for any PlayStation hardware platform in an October month since the PlayStation 2 in October 2002.”

The PS4 and PS4 Pro won’t be seeing any major new releases until January 2019.

Earth Defense Force 5 will be one of the last major launches for the year, which will arrive on Tuesday, December 11.

Following this, fans can expect the arrival of the Resident Evil 2 remake in January 2019.

After that, it’s expected that Sony will start preparing the announcement for the PS5.

Sony hasn’t released any details on the subject yet, but it’s expected that their next console will be unveiled next year.

This doesn’t mean it will launch during 2019; however, fans should learn new details about what kind of features it will have and when Sony aims to release it.
