Galaxy Note 9 upgrade makes this phone even better, but not all Samsung fans are pleased

Galaxy Note 9 is Samsung’s most premium device that has a wealth of features that make it perfectly suited to power users.

The phone comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display that is one of the best on the market thanks to its laudable viewing angles and vibrant colours.

Note 9 comes in two versions; one features 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM while the other flaunts a whopping 512GB of memory and 8GB of RAM.

However, both have the same dual-camera system with a variable aperture that allows the entire lens to open or close depending on light conditions.

All Note 9 models are also powered by Samsung’s Exynos 9810 processor in some markets such as the UK and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 in others like the US.

When the Samsung phablet launched it came pre-installed with Android 8 Oreo and not the latest and greatest software from Google, Android 9 Pie.

But during its recent developer conference in San Francisco, the South Korean tech giant announced the new operating system would be arriving on the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9 in January.

Samsung also debuted One UI, a new skin that would run on top of Android 9 Pie and presents a number of new features and a massive aesthetic change for fans.

The tech behemoth has emphasised the new software has been designed from the ground up to make navigation on larger devices, such as the Note 9, easier with one hand.

Discussing One UI, Samsung said: “One UI helps you focus on what really matters to you.

“With hardware and software working together in harmony, see only what you need, using and viewing your phone with an experience that feels second nature.

“Because it’s the small details that make a big difference.”

One UI also brings Samsung fans new icons that boast striking colours and a new dark mode to look forward to.

Ahead of the software’s full rollout, Samsung is giving fans a chance to experience Android 9 Pie early thanks to the One UI Beta Programme.

The scheme launched last month and allowed Galaxy S9 and S9+ owners across the globe to try out the new features for themselves.

However, until recently the Note 9 had been notably absent from the beta.

But now Galaxy Note 9 owners in Korea, Germany and the US can take advantage of the programme although UK owners are still unable to take part for now, leaving many owners of the phablet disappointed.

On its website Samsung has explained how users can become a beta tester and install One UI when it becomes available in the UK.

The South Korean tech giant said: “Download the Samsung Members application from Galaxy Apps or the Google Play Store.

“After logging in, go to Notices and select ‘One UI Beta Program Registration’ to submit an application.

“Once signed up, go to Settings and then Update Software to select the Download Updates Manually option.

“This will allow the software to update and load the beta version.”

It is worth noting that Note 9 owners in the US will have to download the Samsung+ app to sign into the beta programme.
