Xbox Scarlett release date, specs REVEALED? Huge new update on next Xbox

Xbox fans may have been given a taste of what to expect when Microsoft launches its next-gen console.

According to a new report by trusted insider Brad Sams (from Thurott.com), Microsoft’s new console – which is codenamed Xbox Scarlett – will have a 2020 release date.

Interestingly, this is the same time Sony is reportedly planning to release the PS5.

Sams also reveals potential specs for the Xbox 2, which could be powered by AMD’s next-generation GPU technology.

Likewise, AMD’s powerful Zen 2 CPU is also said to be included in the final product.

And it’s good news if you skipped the , because the next-gen Xbox will reportedly support backwards compatibility.

Elsewhere, Microsoft is supposedly prioritising digital delivery of content, so expect an evolved form of the Xbox Games Pass.

Microsoft confirmed that it is working on new Xbox hardware during its E3 2018 press conference.

It’s likely we’ll see more from the console next year, as Microsoft brings the Xbox One’s lifecycle to an end.

A previous Thurrott report said that the new Xbox is codenamed Scarlett.

Interestingly, the report suggests that Project Scarlett is described as a family of devices.

This would suggest that the next Xbox will be available with different specs and functionality.

Another report said that streaming will be heavily integrated into the console.

Not only does this mean more online games, but developers could use the technology to dynamically update in-game environments.
